The Wheatsheaf Pub | Leighton Buzzard

🎵 The Wheatsheaf, Leighton Buzzard
Known affectionately by locals as “The Wheaty”, The Wheatsheaf is one of Leighton Buzzard’s most historic and best-loved public houses, combining over 230 years of history with a thriving live music scene and strong community spirit.
Located on North Street, the pub can trace its origins back to the late 18th Century, with the first known record dating from 1793 when Thomas Steward was listed as licensee. The building occupies a site that formed part of North Square, once a bustling gateway into the town where travellers arrived from Watling Street on their way to Leighton Buzzard’s busy market and High Street.
Today, The Wheatsheaf is renowned as one of the area’s leading grassroots live music venues, hosting regular bands, open mic nights and entertainment throughout the year. Following a revival under new management, the pub continues its proud tradition as a welcoming, community-focused venue where locals and visitors can enjoy great music, good company and traditional pub hospitality.
Whether you’re discovering local musicians, catching a live band, meeting friends for a drink or simply soaking up the atmosphere of one of Leighton Buzzard’s historic pubs, The Wheatsheaf remains a cornerstone of the town’s social and cultural life.
